- Recurrent or persistent acute otitis media due to S. pneumoniae (penicillin MICs less than 2 mcg/mL), H. influenzae (including β-lactamase-producing strains), or M. catarrhalis (including β-lactamase-producing strains) characterized by the following risk factors (1):
